Re: how to make a speed limit

Hi all, need your kind assistance in this matter. I try to setup a coovachilli with freeradius to limit the bandwidth for upload and download, I'm using coovachilli 1.0.12 with freeradius 2.x. everything is working fine except the bandwidth still not been throttled.

I've tried both attributes as listed below but still has no luck to make it work. When I do radtest, the radius reply the figure for these attribute correctly. please find below the sample of the radtest reply.

When run chilli in debug mode, there are lot of Leaky Bucket message which the bandwidth should be throttle.

Need your help in this matter urgently. Thanks.

ChilliSpot-Bandwidth-Max-Down = kbits/second (I set it to 1024 for 1M)
ChilliSpot-Bandwidth-Max-Up= kbits/second (I set it to 1024 for 1M)

or
WISPr-Bandwidth-Max-Down = bits/second (I set it to 1024000 for 1M)
WISPr-Bandwidth-Max-Up = bits/second (I set it to 1024000 for 1M)

#radtest
rad_recv: Access-Accept packet from host x.x.x.x port 1812, id=74, length=44
WISPr-Bandwidth-Max-Down = 1024000
WISPr-Bandwidth-Max-Up = 1024000

Re: how to make a speed limit

after I upgrade to 1.0.11 everything work correctly.. both upload and download can be limit

Re: how to make a speed limit

zcache :

i just tryed it now, and it works fine. both upload and download.

please make sure :

1/ you set the attributes in the radreply table
2/ If you use WISPr make sure you multiply by a 1000
so 64kbit/s is 64 000
3/ try launching chilli in debug mode (chilli --debug --fg ), if it's throttling, you'll see the Leaky Bucket in action :)

Re: how to make a speed limit

where is i can setup this configuration, because i've setup like that but it's not working? i've tried to used with radiusmanager as billing hotspot.
pleas help me

Thank for You answer I have tried WISPr..... Max-Down and Max up than tried to check speed from local internet service. I tried many value from 256000,128000,64000 it work.. but...only limit download. upload still can bypass.. anybody know why...? or what I miss.

Re: how to make a speed limit

you tried using the
ChilliSpot-Bandwidth-Max-Down = kbits/second
ChilliSpot-Bandwidth-Max-Up= kbits/second

or
WISPr-Bandwidth-Max-Down = bits/second
WISPr-Bandwidth-Max-Up = bits/second

attributes ?

watch out for the direction (up/down), as input/output is relative to the NAS and not the client, i don't know if up/down is as well ... but i suppose so.
should test it out :)

WISPr-Bandwidth-Max-Down := 2048000 notwork

I was using coova 1.0.14 and freeradius 1.1.7 on ubuntu
i limit bandwidth download 1M by set WISPr-Bandwidth-Max-Down := 1024000 it work ok
but
i limit bandwidth download 2M by set WISPr-Bandwidth-Max-Down := 2048000 it notwotk
how to solv this ploblem
